I always say, I don't care how old I am when I birthday comes around as long as I get attention and presents. Since I'm the poster child for "The Cup is Half Full", I guess I'll have to come up with something positive about NOT having a "Valentine" on Valentines Day. Hmmm... let's see, how about I won't be getting red roses, my least favorite color for roses, or I won't be getting chocolates, which I don't need because I'm trying to lose weight? Nah, that's not working. Wait, I did think of something positive, my grandchildren are still young enough that I can be their Valentine and they will always be mine!! NOW, Nana is feeling better.
But I'm still saying a prayer that maybe this year God will bring that someone special my way. Hey, even a Nana can dream. There's no expiration date on dreams last time I checked.

Walking Buddy?
I know I said I don't do the hiking thing, but I do like long walks. In fact "Nana" has a story about a long walking date.
George (not his real name) and I had connected on a dating website (see they do work). We had done the email thing and progressed to calling on the phone several times a week. The bad part is he lives in another state.
But we threw caution to the wind and decided we wanted to meet anyway. Last summer he came to visit for the weekend. Now, don't get any ideas, he stated in a hotel nearby.
Sorry, I'm suppose to be telling you about a walking date. Back to my story. I knew from our conversations George liked to go walking. I even bought a pair of shoes that I thought were fashionable AND comfortable!! Well, girls that is still as much of a dream as finding the right man.
George and I did alot of walking, in parks and on the last day, along the beach. We walked and talked for miles. I thought I was prepared for the walking. My 'comfortable" and fashionable shoes... let's just say they are still fashionable, as for comfortable, hmmm not so much. I ended up with blisters on the back of my heels that lasted longer than the relationship, unfortunately.
Good thing I'll always be Somebody's Nana

Don't ask me to go hiking
It seems most men in the NW like to go "hiking, camping and fishing". Anyone who knows me knows my idea of camping is no room service after midnight. And hiking, hey I trip on a paperclip on the floor!! I might consider it if Gucci makes hiking boots. On second thought, even that wouldn't get me to go hiking. As for fishing, that I just might consider. But let's not broadcast that, OK?
Report on Dinner Date
Reporting on my date. I met him at the restaurant. I wasn't ready for him to pick me up. After all, what if during the date I decide I don't want to see him again and then I'm stuck in the car with him on ride back to my house. I mean let's face it we all know that happens.
We did have a very nice evening. He is easy to talk to and I felt very comfortable with him. But there just isn't any spark. I wish there was.
One of the things I do on a date is ask myself, would I want him to touch me, just touch me or hold my hand and then the BIG question, would I want him to kiss me? If I answer that with a "not so much" it is really hard to go out with him again. Hey, I may be a grandmother, but I'm not dead!!! So all you younger women, take note, older women still like romance and sex or so I've heard!! I'd like to have both before I die, with a wedding ring of course. Can't help it, I'm old fashioned.
Another question I ask is, "Would I want to introduce him to my children and grandchildren?" Would he fit in and be comfortable, more importantly would they be comfortable with him?
All these questions help me decide if I want to continue seeing someone

Dinner Date
I have a dinner date tomorrow night. We had a "coffee date" a week ago at Starbucks of course. So, I'm wondering what to wear, what will make me look thinner. The same questions that I asked myself when I was 20.
Isn't if funny how so much of this dating thing is the same for all of us at any age? It's funny to me.
He didn't give me "butterflies", but I have a feeling there may be more to him than I first thought, so I'm going to find out tomorrow night. If not, at the very least, I get to have dinner with a nice person.

Does Nana have a Boyfriend?
My Grandson
Kids say the sweetest, funniest things. I was spending the day with my grandson, who is 7 years old. He asked me if I had a boyfriend. I said, "No, I don't." He said, "That's good." I asked him why he thought it was good. He said, "Well, if you did, you would want to spend time with him and not me." That touched my heart that my grandson loved spending time with me so much.I reassured him that no matter what I would always make being with him a priority and that I tell any man I date that my grandchildren are very important to me.
One of my favorite things to find out about a man is, "Tell me about your grandchildren". I listen to how he answers the question and if his face lights up when he talks about his family. I find a family man very sexy. That and a man who loves God deeply. I love that!!!
Long distant doesn't work
Next Coffee Date
Well, someone sent me a "smile" from one of the dating websites I'm on. If you don't know what that means, it means he has seen my profile and likes what he sees. He's attractive from his picture and he's even in the same state!!! Sometimes some of the people who contact me are in other states. I'm not looking for a long distance romance.
So, I sent him a smile
